Angry Email
a poem by Jay Ross
I got an angry email once
From someone wanting right
She thought Starbucks was causing harm
And adding to the plight
Of those she held as sacred
In their mission far away
Deprived of home and family
And lonely every day
She wanted folks to know
Just how bad these people are
Suggesting we should boycott
So they wouldn’t get so far
Turns out someone else had told her
Something that was false
But now the ball was rolling
And perpetuating loss
The bad guys weren’t bad guys
But the good guys still were good
Not meaning to spread rumors
She’d retract it if she could
But this one keeps on going
Round and round again
Traveling all across the globe
From friend to friend to friend
Each friend really doing
What they thought was best
Not meaning to spread rumors
Just like all the rest
Next time I get an email
About something that seems wrong
I’ll stop and find out for my self
Before I pass it on
I won’t just spread the anger
(And) make it bigger by the day
I’ll find the truth and share just that
And spread love on the way
It won’t stop all the problems
But I know it will help
If I will just be careful
And responsible My Self
